Lower Withington WI held it’s first meeting since lockdown on the 22nd of September and over 30 members attended, with 3 visitors and one former member rejoining.
The evening was more social than formal – giving members a chance to catch up. A quiz about sweets caused much hilarity and scratching of heads. All in all it was good to be back. Next month’s meeting will be on the 27th of October, the speaker will be Miss Pitchy Patchy talking about Making Do and Mend, the competition will be an upcycled item.

The stunning poppy display on the village cenotaph and, I am sure you will all agree that that is the right word to describe it!
I want to say the biggest thank you to each and every one of you that have knitted, crocheted, sewn and cut out the poppies over the last few months – be proud because they are beautiful. Even bigger thanks to Shona for her design and to her team – you all know who you are. Especially the husbands/partners who got roped in! This idea was discussed by Jill Robinson very early on in the year – I sincerely hope she was looking down on the service yesterday because you have really brought her vision to life. Lastly the local MP David Rutley spoke to me and said when he saw the display it brought a tear to his eye! Once again the biggest thank you Anne K |
